The DP World Tour will not be accompanied by Thomas Pieters, the defending champion, when it heads to Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course for the 2022 Portugal Masters.
The Belgian 30-year-old won his sixth DP World Tour win at last year’s event, but he will not defend it this week because he and Stefanie van Steen are expecting their first child.
Pieters posted on Twitter, “Due to Baby Pieters’ imminent arrival I won’t be able defend my Portugal Masters title” Pieters wrote in a Twitter post, “Time for more doo-doo”
Current No. 35 in the world. Pieters has had a great run of form over the past two months. He was T-8 at Czech Masters and T-3 at Cazoo Open De France.
