AUGUSTA (Ga.) — Tom Kim summarised his first practice round at Augusta National Golf Club with one word.
“Special.”
Kim, a 20 year-old Masters rookie, played nine holes Monday along with Tiger Woods, Fred Couples, and Rory McIlroy. Kim was the only member of the group to make it to the new 13th hole in just two shots.
“I love Tom Kim,” Couples said. We set this up at Presidents Cup and I think he was excited to play with Rory or Tiger. He had a great time and the boys love him. Rory has played with him a few times. Tiger has never played with Rory, but he is a very sharp player. He’s a great hitter.

Kim was also a member of the International Presidents Cup Team and won two times on the PGA Tour 2022 in Greensboro, Las Vegas. After Woods’ 1996 victory, the Korean player became the first to win multiple Tour wins before turning 21.
Kim remained vague when asked about Monday’s nine-holes, but she stated that “I was very lucky to have this opportunity.”
