Tom Kim began the 2023 Open Championship with a score of 3-over-74. He would need a great performance on Friday to reach the weekend at Royal Liverpool.
He got exactly that.
Kim shot a second round 3-under 68 thanks to four birdies in his front nine. He is now at par for the event. He did this despite an injury.
Kim said to the media that he had suffered a grade-1 injury in his right foot last night after he stepped wrongly off a patio. It was a mere accident.
Kim, despite his hobbling, is still in a good position to run the weekend, even though he’s 10 strokes back of leader Brian Harman.
