DUBLIN (Ohio) — The Captains Club has announced that Juli Inkster, a seven-time major winner and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, will be the honoree of the 49th Memorial Tournament.
Tom Weiskopf will be honored at Muirfield Village Golf Club on Wednesday, the third day of the tournament, for his 16-time PGA Tour wins and 1973 Open victory.
Weiskopf, Inskter and the 82nd Honoree are now the 83rd and 84th recipients.
Jack Nicklaus said, “I’m so happy that the Captains Club chose to honor Juli & Tom. They were two great amateurs who went on to have impressive professional careers.” Jack Nicklaus is the host and founder of the Memorial Tournament. “Each player has made a significant contribution to the game and I couldn’t be happier to see them honored next year at Muirfield Village Golf Club.
Inkster played four years at San Jose State, before winning 31 LPGA Tour titles and four LPGA Legends Tour wins. In 2000, she was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Weiskopf won the 1973 Open in Royal Troon, making him a 16-time PGA Tour champion. He tied for second place five times and finished third three times.
Weiskopf also designed the stadium course for TPC Scottsdale (home of the WM Phoenix Open) and the Double Eagle Club, in Galena.
Weiskopf passed away in 2022, aged 79, after a battle with pancreatic carcinoma.
