Finau is now facing accusations from two different people who claim he owes millions of dollars to them.

A article by the Deseret News a Utah-based news outlet, in which Finau grew, details allegations by two men: Molonai Hola, described as an ex-business associate and a family friend, and David Hunter a Utah businessman.

Hola sued in 2020 while Hunter filed in 2021. Both men claim they backed Finau and his younger sibling Gipper financially, which helped them start their professional careers.

The Deseret News Report states:

Hola and Hunter both, who do not work together, claim they are seeking repayment of loans, and for other services and work they have provided to the family between 2006 and 2009, which totals about $1.1million. They are also seeking, individually, up to 20% of Tony Finau’s career earnings. This could be tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars.

When asked to comment on specific allegations, Tony Finau’s representative refused to do so.

People ask us why we believe we are entitled to his earnings. We reply, “Who would risk $500,000 on a 17 year old kid who had never played pro golf before?” Hunter told Deseret News that they deserved to be compensated.
