Every time I get the chance to try out a pair of shoes, I use the same process and method. I do a school walkabout followed by a town walkabout followed by s round of golf. I was ecstatic when TRUE Linkswear released the Dead Golfer LUX Hybrid. As a Spanish instructor in my other career, Dia de los Muertos plays a major role in my fall classes. Now I can wear it on my foot? You betcha!
The LUX Hybrid has four or five distinct elements that I would like to highlight. I was drawn to them even before they made their debut in my size 10. The ground-contact layer of the two-piece sole is an attractive, transparent skim. The skim is ridged at the heel, toe, and the length of the big toe. The rest of the skim has molded cleating that will hold you steady in even the most slippery conditions.
Second, the cushioning that connects the skim to the upper is called the sole cushion. It’s not flimsy, either in terms of appearance or functionality. The cushion gets thicker at the heel, and then gradually thins out as it moves towards the toe. My feet felt fine despite all the walking I did on roads and in school halls. The engineers should be commended for creating this feature.
Third and fourth elements are found in the shoe upper. The Dead Golfer LUX Hybrid has a solid band around the heel. This is the first step to ensuring maximum stability. The right heel reads until death do us apart, and the left one has married to the game. The heel cap is raised high to ensure that the tendon transition gets enough support.
The shoe looks like a mesh, but is actually made of two layers. The shoe is breathable thanks to the mest, and the underlayer ensures that moisture doesn’t get into your socks. Overall, I will wear this shoe until it falls apart. You won’t see me reviewing shoes again for a while!
If the shoes aren’t enough to help you set your mood, there is also a clothing line to go with them. The tagline Married To The Game, ‘Til Death Do Us Part frames the dead golfer at the top swing of his swing on the back of the hoodies, while a simple silhouette of a ghoulish player adorns top-right of the front. A black, understated cap is available.
