Tyrrell Hatton’s hilarious media back and forth at the 2023 Ryder Cup about his swearing

Sep, 2023

Tyrrell Hatton is known for his fiery behaviour on the golfing course. When he plays on the Tour, Hatton is not known for holding back his language and gestures, which can sometimes be to his detriment. But this week, at the Ryder Cup, he has an opportunity to use that emotion as an ally.

Hatton, who was meeting with media in advance of the 44th biennial match between the United States of America and Europe, was asked which of him or Jon Rahm would be the winner of a swearing-off.

“I would probably win a swearing-off,” I said. He said, “I’ve got you covered.”

Hatton replied, “Yes, when asked about his large repertoire and casual attitude towards expletives. Any time, anywhere. No holding back. It doesn’t matter. I’m swearing.”

After a short moment, he said “F*** off.”

As the European team member left his microphone, the media center was filled with laughter.

Hatton has a 2-4-1 overall record and a 0-2-0 Sunday singles record in two previous Ryder Cup appearances — 2018 and 2020.
