United States wins Men’s World Amateur Team Championship title

The United States had the most depth of any team in the Men’s World Amateur Team Championship. This depth was evident all week long in Abu Dhabi.

The Americans won the WATC title by a wide margin, winning the Eisenhower Trophy with a 36-under score over four days at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. They beat Norway and Australia in the final round of stroke play by 11. The U.S. won the championship with its best round on Saturday, thanks to a stellar 8-under 64 by North Carolina junior David Ford. And a 4-under68 from Alabama sophomore and reigning U.S. champion Nick Dunlap. Amateur champion Nick Dunlap.

Dunlap, who won the Elite Amateur Series title in the summer, finished second individually at 15-under-273, just one stroke behind Kazuma Cobori of New Zealand.

Ford and Sargent, – who had earlier in the week secured his PGA Tour Card via his start at the WATC – each shot 13 below for the week, and finished T-5.

Christo Lamprecht is a senior from Georgia Tech and is ranked No. The World Amateur Golf Ranking ranked Christo Lamprecht No.

France placed fourth in the team competition with a score of 24 below, while Italy and New Zealand tied at fifth place at 23 under.

It is the 16th time that the Americans have won the trophy.

The WATC is an biennial golf competition that involves two or three golfers representing 36 different countries. They play four days of stroke-play, with the lowest two scores of each day counting.
