USGA adds Ping G430 max 10K driver to its conforming list

Nov, 2023

The USGA added the G430 Max to its list of Conforming Drivers on Monday.

Ping did not release any official information on the G430 Max 10K. However, by looking at the image of the car that appears in the Conforming Drivers list, we can tell a lot about it.

  • LoftsAccording the USGA notes, the G430 Max will be available in nine-, one-half-degree, and twelve-degree versions. The USGA has tested each loft separately, so all three lofts listed are the lofts that were used in their tests.
  • Carbonfly Wrap: According to the USGA, the words “Carbonfly Wrap”, are printed in the crown. Until now, this feature was available only on the G430 LST low-spin. Carbonfly Wrap is a carbon fibre crown that wraps over the edges of the club and extends downward in the toe and heel areas. This reduces the weight of the club’s top and allows designers to reposition the weight in other places.
  • Forged Face: The previously-released G430 drivers feature faces forged out of T9s+ Titanium to allow them to flex at impact and maximize ball speed. The G430 Max 10K is marked “Forged Face”. We don’t yet know the material Ping used for the striking area but we can guess that it was the same.
  • Weight G430 Max features a sliding weight at the back to allow players and fitters create a bias towards draw or fade while maintaining high levels of stability. The G430 Max 10K comes with a weight (that says “Tungsten”) in the rear. However, there doesn’t appear to be any track so it may be fixed into the center of the back. The addition of mass at this location would increase the MOI and stability.
  • Release Date:The G430 Max, G430 SFT , and G430 LST will be released in several markets in fall 2022, followed by the United States in 2023. The G430 Max 10K is now listed as a Conforming Driver, which means that players can use it at official tournaments, such as this week’s RSM Classic. Ping can release the G430 Max 10K at any time. However, the Phoenix-based firm has traditionally released new products around January, either during or just before the PGA Merchandise Show, which takes place in Orlando, Florida. The PGA Merchandise Show is set to begin on January 23 this year, so don’t expect an announcement regarding the G430 10K at that time.
