Vijay Singh won the PGA Tour Champions event on Sunday, but he had to rely on Paul Goydos for a lot of help.
Singh won his fourth victory overall at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club, Grand Blanc, Michigan. He claimed the 2023 Ally Challenge, his first win on the senior circuit in five years.
Singh, 60 years old, was parring the 18th hole at the same time as some unfortunate events were occurring in a hole directly behind him.
Goydos, who was leading by one shot at the 17th hole on the par-3, hit the green and putted from about three feet. He needed to make four more putts before he could reach the bottom. His advantage was now a two-shot loss.

Goydos’ first putt sailed past the hole, and his comebacker caught part of the lip. It returned to the same spot it had been just a moment earlier. After a few moments to gather himself, he slapped at the putt and missed right, then almost hit the tap in before the ball settled. He looked at his caddie and crossed his arms after picking up the ball from the hole. Then he stared in confusion for a few moments. Parring the 18th, he shot a score of 71. Singh finished with a score of 68.
Singh said, “I am as surprised as anyone else.” “I think for some reason, I drive the ball well here. Whenever I play here on the tree-lined course, I always drive well and putt well. “My putting was a mystery to me for a very long time. But I have figured out a few things in the last few weeks, and I have been putting well.”
The 54-hole tournament was delayed by a week due to heavy rains. It started on Saturday and ended in two days.
