LAS VEGAS – All eyes were on Lexi Thompson in the first round of the Shriners Children’s Open, as the LPGA superstar made her debut on the PGA Tour courtesy a sponsor’s exemption.
Cam Davis, on the other hand, had a very interesting spectator following him during one of his rounds.
A coyote rushed onto the fairway after the Aussie had hit his drive on the par-5 sixteenth hole. It ran first toward the teebox, then did a 180-degree turn and went down the fairway as if it were following the ball. The coyote finally peeled away.

Davis’ first bogey was his first shot of the day, whether he had been shaken or not by the sighting.
Davis, however, made few errors after that. He rolled his way to a score of 67 and is now four shots behind the leader J.T. Poston, after the first wave of the day.
Davis is happy to be playing in Vegas, and will also compete next week in Japan at the Zozo championship.
I’ve done well in the past. This event is not at all a problem for me. Davis stated, “I’ve enjoyed it quite a bit.” It was also always planned to play next week. There’s also travel arranged from here to the next week.
After next week there won’t be much golf until the end of November or December. I enjoy playing and I won’t miss too many events, even if they are not mandatory, because I love competing.
