Rory McIlroy’s swing has been a hallmark of great golf. Every golfer envies his wide takeaway, his transition speed and extension through impact.
Well, except young Charlie Woods.
Charlie has come a long way since December, when he was playing with Tiger at the 2021 PNC Championship. The team almost beat Team Daly for the title.
His game has improved nicely as well, as shown by the scorecard he filed at September’s end — a career low 4-under round of 68 during round three of the Notah Begay III Junior National Golf Championship.
CBS Sports released a side by side video on Thursday of Charlie and the world number one. 1 McIlroy’s hitting driver. Let me tell you, Tiger seems to have shown his son some videos of the Northern Irishman while he was practicing.
They have almost identical swings.

The wide takeaway, late wrist set, and the end. It’s all there.
