Scottie Scheffler’s struggling putter didn’t help him at the par-3 eight hole at Colonial Country Club, Fort Worth Texas, on Sunday.
The world’s No. The world No.
The Texan native’s 7 iron at the 189 yard par-3 bounced two times on the green before making a dash for the hole. Scheffler celebrated his victory by hugging Ted Scott, his caddie.
Scheffler’s hole-in one was his second of the week – Harris English had done the same thing on Friday. It was also the second ace on the PGA Tour. He made his first hole-in-one in Dallas, during the third round at the 2014 AT&T Byron Nelson.
The ace moved Scheffler up to 7 under par for the tournament, and fourth overall despite being the last player in the 72-player field to make it to the Strokes Gain: Putting this week. Scheffler continued his ball-striking skills with the ace. He ranks first in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
Scheffler had lost to Sam Burns in a play-off at this event one year before.
Ace for Scheffler! !
