Seven years ago Smylie Kaufman, Jordan Spieth and their kayak had a rough ride in the Pacific Ocean.
After their first round in the 2017 Sony Open, in Hawaii the duo went out in a kayak near Waialae Country Club to do some fishing. The waves, however, had other plans.
The two kayakers are thrown around and lose a lot gear, including personal items. They were still laughing and the footage was incredible.
Kaufman’s redemption came on Friday, during the second round at the 2024 Sony Open Hawaii. He climbed back into his kayak and, while the Golf Channel was live-streaming, he used the microphone to call golf shots at the par-3 17, which is located next to the ocean.
