It is safe to say that it was a memorable week for the Gabrelcik clan at the Valspar Championship.
Nick is a junior from North Florida and will be playing on a sponsor exemption in his first PGA Tour event at Innisbrook Copperhead Course, Palm Harbor, Florida. He birdied four of the first five holes, and finished with a score of 4-under 67 to reach even-par 142.
Nick stated, “It’s an amazing feeling making my first cuts.”
It was Nick’s first round with Donnie, his brother, on the bag. Last week, Donnie was one of 15 college golfers to be named to the Haskins Award Spring Watch List. Don, Nick’s father was also present as Donnie and Donnie finished their second round.

Nick stated that he didn’t expect everyone to be cheering me on from the grandstands. It was a unique feeling that I won’t ever have again. You don’t ever get to attend a Tour event and you don’t always get a first-cut. It’s something that I will never forget.
“I believe my dad could have more fun with all this, the experience of being inside the ropes. It’s just great to have everyone here.
