What happens when an eagle kills a impala on a course? Play stops

Dec, 2023

A massive eagle spotted in South Africa was feasting on an impala baby.

The footage below was shot at Skukuza Golf Club in South Africa, a course that bills itself as “the wildest course in the World.”

The video shows golfers pausing as they watch the martial bird overtake its prey. The videographer describes the scene as being “unreal.”

Skukuza lies in the Kruger National Park, and is not fenced. The fairways are home to lions, giraffes and other large animals. However, they are rarely seen during play hours.

The eagles of Africa are the biggest eagles, with wingspan measuring almost eight feet. The opportunistic predators can spot potential prey from a distance of up to three miles.

The Martial Eagle preys on birds, mammals and reptiles. The large raptors are also vulnerable because they kill livestock.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature has listed the martial eagle as an endangered species.
