After COVID was introduced in 2020, the original plan of the 11-time All-Star, three-time American League Most Valuable Player, was to buy an existing course. However, after COVID was implemented, things “fell apart.”

According to , a story written by Kaitlyn McCormick for the Cherry Hill Courier Post part of USA Today Network, Trout realized that a better plan would be to work with Tiger Woods’ team and design a 27 hole resort.

Trout stated, “He was the reason I began to play golf.”

Trout said that he had used his experience in golfing, which he has been doing since he was 16 years old, to determine the type of course he wished to build in South Jersey.

Trout said that he is involved in a lot of projects and meetings during the off-season, but scheduling was more difficult when he returned to center field.

Woods’ architecture firm TGR Design is also building a new short-course as part of the Cobbs Creek Golf Club.

The complex will include a short-game area and practice range as well as a clubhouse, restaurant, luxury lodging, wedding chapel, etc.

The luxury private golf course will open in 2025.
