LIV Golf was denied Official World Golf Ranking Points because of its closed-door business. The upstart circuit is set to take the first step in December towards providing a path for players.
The first LIV Golf Promotions tournament – originally reported in February by Golfweek – is scheduled for Dec. 8-10, at Abu Dhabi Golf Club. Three players will punch their tickets to the league 2024. The four rounds of golf will be played on three days with 36 holes being played on the last day. The purse for the event is $1.5m and players will pay a nominal entry fee.
The Grant Thornton Invitational, a PGA Tour/LPGA Mixed Team event at Tiburon in Naples, Florida, is also held the same week. The Alfred Dunhill Championship on the DP World Tour is also held at Leopard Creek Country club in South Africa during the same week.
