Joel Dahmen, a man who keeps his word, buys drinks at J’s Penalty Box near Ferndale.
Dahmen’s tweet on January 8 was “Holy Cow!” when the Detroit Lions defeated the Green Bay Packers during the last week of the NFL regular season, sending the Seattle Seahawks into the playoffs. I can’t imagine that the Lions will send MY Seahawks into the playoffs. “Beers for all in Detroit this summer.”
Dahmen, after the first round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic, said: “Didn’t think much about it.” “They remembered.”

Dahmen came up with a plan to make it affordable for him – beer isn’t cheap in the RMC. He got Long Drink, the maker of the Finnish alcohol beverage, to take part in a promotion in which he bought 10 drinks for each birdie.
Dahmen managed to make three birdies on Thursday, despite struggling with a 4-over score. Rickie, an investor in Long Drink who chipped in 8 birdies, meant that the first 110 Long Drinks at J’s Penalty Box were free. This popular sports bar is located near Detroit Golf Club where the RMC was held.
Fowler became involved in Long Drink three years ago, described as “a refreshing, citrus soda with premium liquor kick” thanks to his friendship Kygo, a music producer. Miles Teller, an actor, is also a shareholder.
Dahmen replied, “That’s a possibility, especially after today’s round.”
Dahmen also buys on Friday.
He said, “More birds tomorrow.”
