The Deep Dive – There’s a saying about fine watches, sports cars, and houses, that if you ask the price, you can’t possibly afford it. Wilson Staff Model Blades and Staff Model CBs fall into the same category. These clubs are designed for elite ballstrikers, college players and players who will compete for their club championship. You probably don’t have the power and consistency to use these clubs.
The 2024 Wilson staff model blade and CB Staff Model are the most precise and highest quality irons in the Wilson family.
Staff Model CB and Staff Model Blade were designed in tandem, and so they share many of the same features. Each club, for example, is made from 8620 carbon to provide a softer feel when it impacts. The numbers are in the same place on both clubs’ toes and the dots are the same.
The clubs also feature Wilson’s Fluid Feel Hosel, which removes weight from the lower part of the hosel to allow designers to add mass to the lower section of the head behind the impact area. The toe has been given extra mass. The Fluid Feel hosel, combined with the added mass at the toe, pulls the center of gravity, and the ideal impact spot, into the middle of your hitting area. This increases the feeling for experienced golfers, and reduces the likelihood of left-misses.

The Staff Model Blade, and Staff Model CB faces have been milled flat so that low handicap golfers can get the spin and consistency from shot to shot.
The traditional lofts on the Staff Model Blade irons and CB will appeal to many low handicap players. The 5-iron is 26 degrees, and the pitching wedge is 46 degrees. The 2024 Staff Model Blade & CB irons will sound softer and have a deeper, lower-pitched sound compared to the previous Wilson blade style irons. They also feel softer.
The Staff Model Blade, a true muscleback is also available in the Staff Model CB, which has the same thin topline and narrow sole, but with a slight offset. This offers some perimeter-weighting for increased stability and forgiveness. This is a relative statement, because with such a short blade, misses at the toe are more penalized than they would be with other Wilson Irons like the game-improving DynaPower irons.
As one might expect, since they are designed together and share the same price, you can mix and match the Staff Model Blade with the CB to create blended sets. This gives players and fitters an option to choose between more forgiving long irons or precise scoring clubs, if desired.
