The British Open is the only true link golf.
Jordan Spieth said after his first round at the Open Championship, “There are some great American Links courses but they’re not the same.” The fescue is missing, which makes the course special.
You saw the U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark slash through some thick fescue on Thursday’s Open Championship first round.
Clark choked on his club and swung as hard as he could, only to have his ball appear, move about two feet, then disappear.
His third shot was greenside. He then got up and down to save bogey, which was his only bogey for the day.

“That was massive. It was a little unfortunate to hit the man off the tee. Of course, hitting someone is never a good thing, but the ball went in a really bad spot. Clark stated that if I hadn’t hit him, I probably would have hit it in fine grass. I could have hit it near the green. “I had a terrible lie and I hit it two feet.” “I was very lucky I didn’t get into the bunker.”

What? His ball struck a fan, right?
Clark clarified, “Yes, it did hit his iPad. It didn’t strike him.” Clark was asked if his iPad was okay. “I don’t really care,” he replied. It screwed up my life.”
He was not thrown off course. He parred Nos. He birdied 16 and 17, and closed with another birdie. It was impressive to get two 4s in a row on the par 5s at the end of the stretch, but it was even more impressive to escape real trouble on 14.
It’s a great round-saver to get up and down, then make a 20-footer.
