On Wednesday, I had the honor of playing in the pro am with Tyrrell Hatton, PGA Tour player, and Trever Siemian from the Chicago Bears.

Hatton won 2020 API and Bay Hill Club & Lodge is special to him. Although the course is difficult, Hatton displayed a level confidence that only winners can achieve.

Bay Hill’s team failed to make it through the weekend, despite the rough being four inches. While I wasn’t nervous during my round, all my knowledge about golf seemed to have vanished. It was years since I had played in such thick rough. Strangely, when you are attempting a more difficult or prestigious course, your subconscious takes over and a trusted 9-iron becomes the game for the unknown.

While everyone talks about Siemian and Hatton as great athletes, what they really are as people is truly remarkable. Hatton described how wonderful it was to have his wife with him at almost every tournament. Siemian shared the blessings of being a father for his three children. Both players spoke about their families with such pride and love.

It was a great experience to play a course that was set up for a PGA Tour event. It was a tough course with narrow fairways, difficult pins, greens that were firm and windy.

Mastercard provided many activations for the fans during the tournament. These tents were designed for cardholders to let them tap into their five senses. Fans could enjoy drinks, aromas and video games as well as food and simulators.

Mastercard and Capital One joined forces to create a Small Business Marketplace. They took care of all fees, expenses, and buildout so that a cafe or bakery could make a profit and be seen near the 18th hole.

Mastercard is an Orlando Winnie Palmer Hospital supporter and makes numerous contributions throughout tournament week and the year. Mastercard donated $10,000 to the Hospital as the winner of Wednesday’s pro am.

Mastercard extended their multi-year partnership with API. They have been involved with the tournament for 19 year and intend to continue growing the partnership and experience.
